Change Research was founded to bring high-quality, accurate polling to political campaigns and causes. By pairing data science, innovation, and the latest technologies with deep political expertise, we deliver research that helps teams move faster, know more, and make decisions with confidence. Change Research goes deep to uncover breakthrough insights that make our clients successful. As a Public Benefit Corporation with two brands — Change Research and Embold Research — we seek to make the world more humane, scientific, and just; as a technology company, we seek to innovate and re-define what it means to measure public opinion. Our team is helpful, hardworking, respectful, and kind, and we have a positive, fully remote workplace.
This is a quota-carrying role focused on targeted pipeline and business development, vertical-market specialization, full sales cycle, and consultative relationship ownership that reports to the Head of Growth.
We are seeking a full-time Director of Growth to build a top-of-funnel pipeline and manage the full sales cycle for Embold Research.
You will have initial formal reviews at 90 and 180 days to measure performance relative to goals and to make sure you’re on track for success.
Core Responsibilities
- Open and grow new markets: With your proven expertise, you will create business opportunities with qualified clients in current and new markets in which we are most interested, including housing, healthcare, clean energy and renewables, data centers, education, public affairs, city and local government, and adjacent public-sector/nonprofit spaces.
- Close deals: You will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle for all business you generate and close, working collaboratively with our team members to propose the right research program.
- Maintain CRM discipline: Log every touch and every meeting. Pipeline reporting must be accurate and current. This is a requirement for earning commission.
- Feed back market intelligence: Share what you’re hearing from prospects — objections, timing patterns, budget signals — to inform sales strategy.
- Innovate: Use AI tools to constantly improve your workflow.
About You
- You have 6+ years of experience in a combination of:
- outbound B2B business development and sales. You have owned your own pipeline and were measured on activity, quality of meetings, as well as closed revenue and meeting quota.
- experience in polling or market research, and you understand how to speak the language of research to sell and advise organizations on how to use it to accomplish their goals.
- experience with and able to build business within your existing network in our target verticals, including housing, clean energy, education, and media and information, and the philanthropies that fund them.
- A strong candidate will meet two of three criteria; an exceptional candidate will meet all three of these criteria.
- You are built for an unproven vertical: Comfortable operating without a fully mapped playbook and excited about building it. Embold’s verticals are still being defined — you’ll be building and shaping the targeting model, not executing work handed to you.
- You exercise stellar judgment: You can tell the difference between a lead that looks good on paper and one that’s actually worth pursuing and explain why.
- You are creative and flexible: You are nimble in your business-development approach and can creatively use different tactics at different times to build client relationships. You understand how to convert handshakes at conferences into trusted relationships and closed business.
- You are disciplined and self-directed: Comfortable with a quota, comfortable holding yourself accountable in a fully remote role, and comfortable being measured on both activity and quality.
- You have an ownership mindset: Approach this pipeline like it’s yours to build, not a list to work through. This role has real room to grow with the right person in it.
What Your Week Might Look Like
- Outbound campaigns across email, phone, and LinkedIn targeting Embold verticals
- Research to identify new organizations and decision-makers within priority verticals
- Booking meetings with qualified leads; conducting thoughtful discovery calls; crafting research proposals to meet their goals; and seeing the deal through closing and ongoing relationship management
- Logging all activity in the CRM as the source of truth
- Reporting on what’s working, what isn’t, and where targeting should shift
We will provide individual quota and metrics for your role once you are hired. Those will be based on:
- Revenue generation and quota attainment
- Pipeline development
- Activity metrics
Compensation & Work Environment
The base salary range is $92,000 - $106,000, commensurate with experience, with on-target earnings (OTE) of $133,900-$148,900. Top performers who consistently exceed quota can earn significantly more than the stated OTE.
The position includes these benefits:
- Company-subsidized medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
- Flexible paid time off, sick days, and company holidays
- Access to pre-tax 401K retirement program
- Fully remote work environment; some travel may be required
- Stipend to outfit your home office
- Stock options
- Paid family leave and other types of leave
You must be authorized to work in the United States.
