A new survey of Democratic primary voters in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District finds a wide-open race, with a majority of voters still undecided.
On an initial ballot test, 53% of voters say they are not sure who they would support, with Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure leading declared support at 17%, followed by Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association President Bob Brooks (11%), engineer Carol Orbando-Derstine (10%), and former federal prosecutor Ryan Crosswell (5%).
Once voters are presented with positive biographical information about the candidates, Bob Brooks emerges as the frontrunner with 30% support, followed by Ryan Crosswell at 18%, Carol Orbando-Derstine at 17%, and Lamont McClure at 17%.
The survey also shows the issues driving the Democratic primary electorate in this swingy Lehigh Valley seat. Healthcare (70%) and affordability and cost of living (67%) are by far the top concerns for voters, followed by jobs and the economy (35%).
