Warren, Biden, and Sanders Lead Minnesota Democratic Primary

Elizabeth Warren (21%) has a one-point lead over Joe Biden (20%) and a two-point lead over Bernie Sanders (19%) in the Minnesota Democratic primary. Warren, Biden, and Sanders are followed by Amy Klobuchar (16%), Pete Buttigieg (11%), Kamala Harris (4%), Beto O’Rourke (3%), and Andrew Yang (2%). All other candidates poll at 1% or less.

27% of women voters support Warren, followed by Biden (20%) and Klobuchar (19%). The top three shifts among men voters: they prefer Sanders (30%), Biden (19%), and Buttigieg (14%).

18- to 34-year-old voters prefer Sanders (22%) by two points over Warren and Klobuchar (20%). Sanders’ lead widens among 35- to 49-year-old voters; he leads at 29% ahead of Warren (23%) and Biden (14%) in that group. 50- to 64-year-old voters support Biden (21%), Klobuchar and Buttigieg (19%); voters 65 and older also choose Biden (27%) first, followed by Warren (24%) and Klobuchar (20%).

Large Majority of Minnesotans Support Emergency Insulin Act

74% of registered voters in Minnesota support the Alec Smith Emergency Insulin Act, which proposes that qualified Minnesotans have access to a 90-day supply of insulin at a significantly reduced price, funded by the three largest insulin manufacturers. A majority of voters from all parties support the Act: 87% of Democrats, 58% of Republicans, and 72% of Independents.

Change Research surveyed 1,568 registered voters in Minnesota (772 likely 2020 Democratic primary voters and 609 likely 2020 Republican primary voters) from June 8-12, 2019. The survey was conducted online, using Change Research’s Bias Correct Engine. Change Research reaches voters via targeted online ads that point people to an online survey instrument. The Bias Correct Engine dynamically delivers large samples that accurately reflect the demographics of a population. Post-stratification was done on age, gender, ethnicity, and 2016 presidential vote. The margin of error for the full sample, as traditionally calculated, is ± 2.5%.
