Director, Business Development—Community Engagement Unit

In 2017, we figured out a new way to quickly, affordably, and accurately measure public opinion online, and since then, we’ve primarily operated in the political sphere.

Now, we are bringing products and services to market that will fundamentally change how public, nonprofit, and private-sector organizations understand the people they serve. We’ll launch this unit under a new, non-partisan brand.

About the role:
We’re looking for a Director of Business Development to drive business growth in the following sectors:

-state and local government
-nonprofits
-companies and industry associations working to improve the communities they operate in
-consulting firms that work with the above

You’ll have the opportunity to help build something fundamentally new and different, and to help chart the course for this new unit.

You will collaborate with pollsters, data scientists, and other senior colleagues to drive growth, build our reputation, and solve problems for clients.

Core Responsibilities:

-Set and reach annual sales targets
-Build and drive partnerships with PR and advertising firms, and other types of consultants, to increase the scale and reach of our sales efforts
-Skillfully build interest and create opportunities with new prospects
-Understand company offerings and translate that knowledge into compelling sales pitches that solve client problems

You will also have the opportunity to:

-Secure visibility opportunities and champion big ideas on behalf of company
-Assist in building a deep, nuanced understanding of our clientele and their problems; propose new and exciting ways to solve client problems; generally help drive our strategy
-Inform sales and marketing collateral, pricing strategy, etc.

About you

You are an experienced professional with a network of contacts in government, nonprofits, and industry. You know how those institutions work to shape the communities they serve. You have stories to tell about ideas you’ve brought to life and projects you’ve built from the ground up.

-8-15 years experience driving business growth at research, public affairs, media relations, consulting, or similar firms. Alternatively, equivalent experience in municipal, county, or state government.
-Strong relationship builder, able to cultivate a strong network on behalf of the company
-Ability to think creatively, identify opportunities to solve problems for clients, and proactively anticipate client needs
-Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, comfortable with working in an early-stage environment

Compensation and Work Environment:

This full-time remote position pays an annual salary of $95,000-$125,000

This position will involve some light travel (few times a year).
